  7. Welcome to the world of Image Club CD ROM Systems. This 
  8. PhotoGear disc is one in a line of creative photographic image 
  9. CD ROMs from Image Club. We wish to provide you with an 
  10. astonishingly wide variety of useful and exciting stock images for 
  11. multimedia, fine art, advertising and superb quality, high resolution 
  12. output - at a price anyone can afford.

  15. IBM PC & Macintosh Compatibility
  16.  
  17. All PhotoGear CD ROMs are multi-platform compatible. This means 
  18. that the same CD ROM disc may be used on either a IBM PC or 
  19. Macintosh computer system. The photographic image files on the 
  20. PhotoGear disc may be used on both platforms, as is. Files that are 
  21. specific to a particular platform are separated into designated 
  22. directories. For example, the "PC" directory contains files that are 
  23. specific to the IBM PC compatible platform only.  The "Mac" directory 
  24. on the PhotoGear CD ROM contains utilities, documents and 
  25. applications that can be used only on the Macintosh platform. Using 
  26. the international ISO9660 CD ROM standard, PhotoGear discs may 
  27. be accessed using nearly every CD ROM drive available today.

  30. System Requirements
  31.  
  32. The minimum PC configuration is a 286 compatible with 4 mb of RAM, 
  33. 25 mb of free hard drive space, a CD ROM drive, MS DOS version 4.1 
  34. or later and an EGA graphics card.
  35.  
  36. The recommended PC configuration is a 386 compatible or better with 
  37. 8 mb of RAM, 100 mb of free hard drive space, a CD ROM drive, 
  38. Microsoft Windows 3.0 or later and a high resolution SVGA graphics 
  39. card with 1 mb or greater video RAM.

  41. The minimum Macintosh configuration is a Macintosh II with 4 mb of 
  42. RAM, 25 mb of free hard drive space, System Software version 6.0.7 
  43. or later, a CD ROM drive, Foreign File Access software (supplied with 
  44. most CD ROM drives) and an 8 bit grey scale monitor.

  46. The recommended Macintosh configuration is a Macintosh IIci or 
  47. faster with 20 mb of RAM, 100 mb of free hard drive space, System 
  48. Software version 7.0 or later, a CD ROM drive, Foreign File Access 
  49. software (supplied with most CD ROM drives) and an 24 bit color 
  50. monitor.

  53. Image File Formats
  54.  
  55. The image files on the PhotoGear CD ROM are stored in three 
  56. resolutions.
  57.  
  58. High Resolution
  59. Approximately 1330 pixels by 1995 pixels at 266 pixels per inch.
  60. High resolution files are stored as LZW compressed RGB TIFF
  61. (Tagged Image File Format) files. Compressed TIFF is a non-lossy
  62. compression scheme that ensures the detail and resolution is maintained
  63. in the image. These images are approximately 7.5 mb in size when
  64. decompressed and are ideal for high resolution, full page (5.0 x 7.5
  65. inches) reproduction at 150 lines per inch and lower screen frequencies.

  67. Medium Resolution
  68. Approximately 665 pixels by 1000 pixels at 133 pixels per inch.
  69. Medium resolution files are stored as LZW compressed RGB TIFF files.
  70. These images are approximately 1.9 mb in size and are best suited
  71. for smaller, high resolution layouts and comps. They may be reproduced
  72. at full size (5.0 x 7.5 inches) using 85 lines per inch and lower screen
  73. frequencies.

  75. Low Resolution
  76. These files are approximately 360 pixels by 540 pixels at 72 pixels
  77. per inch. Low resolution files are stored as 32 bit PICT files. These
  78. images are less than 350k in size and are best suited for multimedia
  79. presentations, "for position only" placement in layouts and on screen
  80. previewing.

  85. The photographic images supplied on this Image Club CD ROM are 
  86. for the personal use of the end user only and are copyright of Image 
  87. Club Graphics, Inc. You are licensed to use the copyrighted 
  88. photographic images for presentation, printed, reproduction or display 
  89. purposes. Unauthorized duplication, reproduction, reselling or 
  90. distribution of the copyrighted photographic images in digital form is 
  91. strictly prohibited. You may make one copy of the files for backup 
  92. purposes only. Please note that by using the images, you have 
  93. agreed to the terms of this licensing agreement. For more information, 
  94. refer to the Image Club Graphics Licensing Agreement on the 
  95. software package.

  101. before using your Image Club CD ROM. We guarantee that this will 
  102. save you time in the long run. If you have a problem with the 
  103. installation of or use of any Image Club product, please refer to the

  105. manuals supplied with your Macintosh and Macintosh applications 
  106. before calling Image Club Technical Support.
